Adoption

Father, who by grace adopts us as your children in Jesus.
Grant us grace and love as we take ______ as our very own son/daughter.
Having put this desire to be adoptive parents into our hearts,
we pray we may never become careless of this privilege or allow hard times to cause us to retreat.
May ________ grow up secure in our love and become a person at peace with you as his/her Father God and at peace with him/herself.
In the name of Your Son Jesus Christ.

As I gaze at my adopted child,

I thank you Lord for this most precious of gifts,

given in such a unique way.

Yet I know that for her/him the very giving is tainted by pain. God of shalom, God of healing,

redeem the giving and the receiving,

and reveal it as an act of love at which you were present.
